Wrultizers 3 – Services 1
After their best start to a league season since their creation the Wrultizers had been rocked following two defeats to CF Cosmos. Unfortunately for Services they were to suffer the backlash. The game was barely ten minutes old when Ryan Jozwik was released down the right wing. Jozwik cut inside the fullback before firing home a lange range daisy cutter which crept inside the post.
Five minutes later and the Wrultizers doubled their lead after another good move down the right the ball was swung in only for Alan Blair to turn the ball into his own net.
The Wrultizers now had complete control over the midfield and were pressing forward in numbers. Niall O’Rourke and Brydon Mowat both went close to extending the lead with long range drives. The third goal when it came was worth the wait as a sweeping passing move found John Carr on the edge of the box, The burly striker killed the ball instantly before spinning his marker and bulleting the ball into the roof of the next from the edge of the ball.
With a three goal lead the Wrultizers could have been forgiven for thinking the game was over but they were hit on the break almost instantly with Noel Johnson being denied by the fingertips of the outstretched Micky Lynch. The resulting corner was swung in dangerously where Leask met it to bundle the ball over the line.
Services could have pulled another goal back at the death of the first half but striker Lee Hunter dawdled on the ball with just the keeper to beat and had the ball nicked of his toe by a crunching Aidan Bennet challenge.
The second half started with Wrultizers reasserting themselves and taking control of the midfield. The most remarkable thing about the second half was that the Wrultizers didn’t increase their lead with Niall O’Rourke crashing a shot of the post and Andrew Boyd rattling the crossbar with a freekick. Next to come close was David McShane who after shimming past a couple of defenders couldn’t get the ball from out under his feet from a tight angle to get the goal his performance deserved. Best on the night for Servies was Duncan McDougal where as O’Rourke, Boyd, Doull and Jozwik were the pick of a very strong Wrultizers team.
